Gap Year

Your Gap Year in Kitzbühel / in the Austrian Alps means:

• Learning German in Kitzbühel before preparing for the instructors' exams on the glacier Kitzsteinhorn startig +/- begin of Nov. (Ski Instructor Academy Austria in Kaprun)
• Become an Austrian qualified ski or snowboard instructor
• Work a full season (up to three months) as a ski instructor in Kitzbühel after the exam (or in another ski resort of your choice)
• You obtain 2 valuable skills and have a marvellous time in the Alps
• Complete beginner at German? No problem!  A course of at least 8 weeks (or more) makes you speak well enough to communicate satisfactory (or fluently)
• Course dates:  In the autumn. Any number of weeks you wish or need

This course is rather for better skiers and snowboarders (but we had beginners, too!) who want to acquire the most prestigious instructors' qualification. People come from all over the world to get the Austrian certificate, known for its rigour and high standards. At the Deutsch-Institut we prepare you thoroughly for the exam. During your German course you'll get expert tuition in German for five days per week before moving to Kaprun for the intensive ski instructor programme provided by the Ski Instructor Academy Austria. If you're looking for intensive, this is for you! 

The exams are in German. You get targeted German tuition with a thorough preparation for the written part. A couple of times we got complete beginners at German passing the exam.

After you've passed the course, you can stay in Kitzbühel and work as a ski/snowboard instructor (or in another ski resort of your choice). If you have a European passport, you are guaranteed a job by the Ski Instructor Academy. Enjoy the next 3 to 4 months in the resort getting paid to do what you love, on the snow, in the sun, meeting people from all over the world, sharing your enthusiasm for skiing or snowboarding.
